TDG 982 02
Requirements for the operation, repair, maintenance and inspection of CNG vehicles

This rule has been in effect since 1 February 2009.

These technical recommendations set out the requirements and conditions for the operation, repair, maintenance and inspections of CNG vehicles. These recommendations define the basic terminology used in practice for CNG power train. Under Act No 56/2001 on the conditions of traffic on roads, and with reference to the Agreement concerning the adoption of uniform technical prescriptions for wheeled vehicles, equipment and parts which can be fitted and/or be used on wheeled vehicles and the conditions for reciprocal recognition of approvals granted on the basis of these prescription, the requirements for the special components of motor vehicles with a CNG system and for the use, inspection and maintenance thereof, are laid down.

In order to carry out the activities related to approval, vehicle manufacturers and holders of type approvals of vehicle conversion may place requirements and obligations on their employees and employees’ professional competence, including the right to confidentiality. The technical and organisational requirements and conditions for the operation, repair, maintenance and inspection of motor vehicles with CNG power train, which are set out in these recommendations, are intended to unify the extent of the work to be carried out and, above all, to ensure the safety of operation and of CNG use as an alternative fuel for motor vehicles. These recommendations follow up on TPG 304 02 and relate to TPG 982 01.

These technical recommendations have been consulted with the relevant state administration authorities and with organisations that address this issue, and are intended for verification in practice, see 10.2.
